The most recent in a series of Wiig's depressed/repressed roles. No one's asking for a perky rom-com, but please, something different.

Kristen Wiig puts on her dramedy hat again in this TIFF 2014 entry after last year's "Hateship Loveship" to brilliant results. "Welcome to Me" is uncomfortably hilarious to watch for all the right reasons. It has an original plot and a reliable supporting cast with Wiig leading the charge. You even get a taste of Oprah in it!

Yes, it has a bit of the watching-races-for-the-wrecks feel to it, and by the end of the film, it's not clear Piven has a destination in mind, or whether it's important to arrive at one. But this is a performance that demands your attention. It also deserves it.

Kristen Wiig is great in this strange and off beat story. A woman who spends all day watching video tapes of Oprah - wins the lottery and decides to become a talk show host. It's a send up of reality TV and also of our culture. Streaming live now on Netflix - so for a entertaining evening I'd say you can't go wrong.
