...perfectly watchable (if palpably padded-out) from start to finish.

A little too melodramatic and a bit slow at the beginning but it got more interesting midway through the film. Good for a movie of this genre and time period.

Watched on the Talking Pics channel. Overall a disappointing film. Eric Portman is an old school stiff upper lip actor, which nowadays cones across as somewhat wooden. Nice little cameo from Wilfred Hyde White.

Psychological thriller, co-written by Emeric Pressburger; it kinda sorta presages "Peeping Tom." (Okay, it's a bit of a stretch... but it does.) The ending is rather abrupt, I wanted more time to suffer with the condemned man. I love watching Eric Portman's face. Lately when I watch older movies shot on location, I tend to spend half the time looking at the streets and the clothes and the public transport. And the hats. Great hats. (Especially Dulcie Gray's "toy hat" in the first scene.) I think I'll go on an Eric Portman spree now.
