Top-notch cast can't raise this quasi-comedy above its ho-hum premise â?? troubled young man believes he decides who goes to heaven or hell. Plot build-up weak with little emotional payoff. William H. Macy, however, is terrific as irreverent shrink who tries to figure out Walter's quirks.

A bit of a slow start, odd & quirky. It takes its time to reveal its story. The film reveals a soulful, forgiving spirit in its characters. I could relate to the story, having gone through something similar as a young man. This is really about the redeeming power of grief.
