Lots of western philosophy, exploration of root human instinct and a penchant for tricking the viewer and playing games with the minds of the audience. I've seen this film numerous times, and it always inspires me to create.

Makes you start to think again which you probably forgot to do it somewhere in time. It really woke me up and just like it is mentioned in the last scene I could never look at the world same way again after this movie.

the entertainment is in the experimentation of the filmmaking process here. I thought the visual treatment was so perfectly suited to the scripts concept. Though its "plot" is slow in parts, the beautiful colours and movement really make this a gem in the experimental genre.

Every self-indulgent evil it is thusly labeled I can only counter by saying "And how!" However, the cheese stands alone and 'Waking Life' exists so no other movie can assert dominance over its slacker stone dreamscape. Whatever its indulgences may be, they're deftly conceived, beautifully choreographed, and more often than not Holy Moments.

I really enjoyed this film, which delves into the mystery of lucid dreaming. I love lucid dreaming myself, and I have had some very interesting experiences so this was a film that immediately captivated my attention. For anyone interested in the subject, do some research! It was very easy for me to learn how to lucid dream, and it can be a great learning experience. This film also is philosophical in nature, and the animation is quite enticing. As a viola player I enjoyed the bits with the classical music, and the sea of colors melting and swimming in the movie made for a trippy/beautiful experience that was for me reminiscent in aesthetic to What Dreams May Come....an ever changing, lovely painting with depth and candor.
