Turner's Warshawski is bitingly hilarious, brazenly sexy, and always the smartest one in the room.

what ever happened to kathleen turner?. she is really good in her first and maybe only leading role.

Turner wants to play up Warshawski's detective instincts while Disney would rather ogle with the intensity of a Mormon, unsure how to successfully launch a franchise like this without alienating male audiences.

** (out of four) Sara Paretsky's popular series of books comes to the big screen with the appropraitely cast Kathleen Turner. I have a feeling that the studio had likely planned for this to be the first in several films, but things didn't work out so well. The lines seem forced and plot strictly average as Turner plays the touch private investigator who takes on the big bad boys.
