Bogart and Bacall are at their best in this mystery. With one of the sharpest and smartest screenplays (written by William Faulkner) and convoluted plots this movie gets better every time you watch it. Perhaps the best detective movie ever!

My very favorite classic noir. Chandler's convuluted plot, difficult to understand even in the original book, is impossible to follow here; still, I enjoyed every hard-boiled minute.

Bogey and Bacall create an atmosphere of verbal sparring that is unmatched in Cinematic history for its sheer point perfect timing,acidic wit and aesthetic value. Dialogues that snap,a plot as complicated and as engaging as it can get and Hawk's assuredly brilliant direction makes this classic "whodunit" a must see for any Cinephile.
