Polanski’s direction of Venus In Fur is masterful—a pleasure in and of itself—but Seigner is the star attraction here, giving one of the best performances of her distinguished career.

Fascinating.. Sort of a companion piece to The Ninth Gate, featuring the same actress in a role that is similarly multifaceted ambiguous and tinged with the supernatural. What it is saying about women and men is something I am still thinking about.. The theme to me has something to do with the blinders we choose to put on ourselves, so we don't perceive life, others, or ourselves in the proper light or with the proper respect. I would like to see this one again, actually. I missed a couple of minutes in the middle.

A fantastic play adaptation by Roman Polanski. Both leads are absolutely sensational. Unlike in Carnage (which I also loved), Polanski's touch is felt throughout. Funny, sexy & full of twists this play-within-play is a real delight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

so clever - not one line, prop or costume item - no matter how small - is superfluous. And can't imagine any other actress in this role :-)
