Basically like a long episode of The Twilight Zone, this weird apocalyptic film is interesting, but not especially good. Human annoyance Hayden Christensen probably turns in his best performance, being only mildly grating. The characters are kind of typically dumb in that modern horror movie way and the ending feels like something of a copout. But it could be worse.

Yeah, it's an overlong episode of The Twilight Zone. And I think that's pretty cool. But Hayden Christensen still can't hold a movie for me and I found Thandie Newton's struggling, screaming mother to be incredibly annoying. John Leguizamo's projectionist and Jacob Latimore's shotgun kid were definitely the best parts, but at the end of the day I don't think director Brad Anderson had much of a movie here. Shame. His Session 9 is still one of the scariest flicks I've ever seen and I still have a soft spot for The Machinist. VF.

Imagine life as you know it ending abruptly in one night. People are missing. Clothes are all over the place, cars are crashed, but there are no signs of life. You meet up with less than a handful of survivors, and discover the only thing that can protect you from the darkness and it's whispering shadows is light. The only problem is that all electricity has stopped, batteries won't last, and the days are getting shorter. This flm begins like the 80s cult film "Night of the Comet", but is an entirely different story. Excellent in the chills and creepiness departments, while capturing the personal elements of the survivors, who are very easy for the audience to bond with.

Good movie. Kinda creepy, couple surprises, a happy and sad ending. Good acting from everybody, especially John Leguizamo.

Wonderfully shot in deep, bleak shadows, set to an aggressively moody musical score, and quick enough to get through the apocalypse in less than 90 minutes.
