Finally. An action film that's more about the characters than the chase ... even though the chase is damn good, worthy of a Special Mention for cinematographer Alex Catalan.

Peli española de policías en acción (no piensen en Torrente) que viene a demostrar que todavía se puede hacer cine de ese género, y bien. Muy bien. Excelentemente diría yo. Lo primero que deja en claro (en una primera persecución en que uno de los protagonistas se queda con merca) es que son corruptos. Lo segundo es que están ahí para hacer su trabajo, y por cualquier medio necesario (por ejemplo pegar martillazos en la cabeza en una interrogación). Y lo tercero es el contexto: suburbia de Sevilla que reacciona a este escuadrón prepotente que se cree mil. La peli encarrila en una escalada de furia y violencia que pensé que tenía que terminar en fatalidad. Pero en vez de eso, al final desacelera, disuelve, tira alguna pincelada final sobre los personajes y se va a los títulos. No es el mejor final, pero sí uno propio, y que no empaña todo lo anterior: hora y media de cine puro, potente, y mucho más vivo que cualquier Hollywoodeada que haya visto recientemente.

"Grupo 7" es una propuesta española que nos introduce a una unidad policíaca en Sevilla a finales de los ochentas, encargados de combatir el narcotráfico. Esta no es una tarea fácil y pronto se encontrarán formando parte de la misma corrupción que tratan de resolver. La cinta no es particularmente original (uno puede observar todos los clichés del género policíaco en ella) pero es entretenida, con buenas actuaciones y un interesante contexto social. No esta mal para entretener durante una tarde aburrida.

Shiny boy Mario Casas did not quite convince me in this otherwise solid police thriller on the rise and fall of a supposedly hardcore unit determined to clean the city of Seville and make it safe before the expo cames to town.
