Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)

Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr. Gonzo drive a red convertible across the Mojave desert to Las Vegas with a suitcase full of drugs to cover a motorcycle race. As their consumption of drugs increases at an alarming rate, the stoned duo trash their hotel room and fear legal repercussions. Duke begins to drive back to L.A., but after an odd run-in with a cop, he returns to Sin City and continues his wild drug binge.

Yo amo esta pelicula~ Es la perfecta motivación para todos los viajeros, incluyendome, que quieran trabajar con una buena cinematografía y una buena influenzia. Este filme es, lo fue y lo segira siendo una de mis favoritas personales. Hunter S. Thompson tiene petroleo en esa cabeza!

Not making a statement for, or against drugs, it shows the struggle (and chaos) of obtaining the "american dream" in its darkest. A sense of this movie having a message can get lost behind all the drug use and moody tones this movie sets, but if you have a knack for symbolism and the dark under-belly of what "hitting it big" means, this movie might change your outlook on a few things.

wow!! the only people who didn't like this movie was half of the critics. all the humans pretty much liked it though. awesome movie. probably the best performance by johnny depp period.

It's a trip, and that's about the only way to put it. Much of what makes the movie work is Johnny Depp's spot on portrayal of the good Doctor Thompson and the injection of Thompson's prose. Herein lies the movie's main flaw as well: Hunter S Thompson's writing is so genuinely rich, that the narrative it relates becomes stagnant and boring in comparison. It's absolutely hilarious to watch Johnny Depp and Benecio Del Toro make fools out of themselves, but the high-speed pacing of the first two acts of the movie makes the more serious, contemplative latter half of the film seem to drag on indefinitely. There's great insight to be found, but the book is considerably better, regardless of how cliched a statement that is, as it offers the brilliance of the movie in the most pure condensed (and vastly more entertaining) form.

One of the most well crafted films i've ever seen. Funny on so many levels and is just enjoyable to watch when you've had a bad day. Some may find this movie to disturbing but I find it funny to watch Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro's performance.
