Not bad, but not great either. Excellent voice acting and well animated but the faces of the characters are very "Uncanny Vally". My biggest problem with this movie is that it attempts a slow buildup to the action. The waiting was a little to long for me and when the shooting starts it felt unsatisfying. Be warned that this movie was made primarily for the fans of Warhammer 40k and if you are not familiar with its lore then you are probably going to find yourself confused. All in all a shaky first step for Games Workshop movies. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes.

2010? Seems older than that. The animation leave much to be desired. Strictly for die-hard fans. "It feels like one long extended cut scene from a videogame, probably a PC game dating from a decade or so back considering how clunky the animation is . . ."

A brave endeavour that doesn't fully pay off mainly due to the terribly inconsistent animation quality. A fairly good start for codex pictures but perhaps they should employ the folks behind the fmv's for the games workshop video games instead.

Definitely a film for the fans of the games rather than the casual viewer. The CGI may be very shaky, the characters may be basic generic action heros, and Sean Pertwee stands out like a friendly tyranid handing out chocolate to a leman russ crew but the movie captured the atmosphere perfectly and the action is worth the wait. While I usually don't like big Hollywood sci-fi films, a bigger budget could have sorted the CGI out. It's surprising that there hasn't been any more movies about the Warhammer 40000 universe as there is huge scope for potential for a franchise that will rival Star Wars and Alien (and will probably look like a cross between the two).

The movie's plot is over-simplified and can be summed up as follows: A squad of heavily armored Space Marines engage in a rescue mission and shoot stuff The animators seemed to make up for the paper thin plot by adding over-the-top actions scenes which are cool, but unnecessary. Being a fan of 40k (Though I've been drifting away from GWs overpriced models for about a year now), I found it enjoyable and not a complete waste of time. However, to someone with no prior knowledge or fandom of the franchise, the movie is jarring, confusing and boring. If the animators had done a large battle (Macragge, Rynns World, any one of the Black Crusades), the movie would have been infinitely better, even to an outsider. Instead, we are left to ponder why 10 men are given complete control of a Strike Cruiser built for 100 (plus support).
