The result is a formulaic, underwhelming set-up for another era of Transformers movies.

I went in not expecting much and I got a pretty level headed action movie. I really was pleasantly surprised by this one. The movie made me feel like this is a real world with real people and then something bizarre happens and you can't help be be taken on a ride. A solid movie going experience.

The average lul filler movie. Rinse and repeat formula that just makes minor tweaks. Watch once and second time only if there is nothing else on TV. Taking a nap might be preferable though. There is not enough exploration of the Beasts backstory or contribution. Somewhat confusing and ending up not understanding if they are from the future, past, alternate timeline, different region of space or what. At this point there could be more improvement if they put all but the special effects into the hands of some promising B movies director.

The best part was when I got a nap during a pointless action sequence. I like the acting and characters, but they are hindered by awful dialog. The dialog is anything but subtle and treats the audience like we're all 10 years old and must be told directly exactly what needs to be done. There is nothing left to the imagination. Okay for a popcorn movie, but a snooze.

To some extent, each shot is a little more neatly composed. But they’re all strung together with the barest visual and narrative connective tissue, resulting in a baffling film that feels strange not only for a modern blockbuster, but for a Transformers movie as well.
