England, early 20th century. After waisting my time watching Death on the Nile, I was delighted to watch this movie. I don’t think it got enough publicity. loved the movie, superb acting and great CG. Attention to detail and cinematography was brilliant. I recommend.

This is a biopic so fearful that audiences won’t get the connections it’s drawing that it depicts a CGI dragon stalking the battlefields of the Somme. The result doesn’t rise above the insight of a Wikipedia page.

Too often Tolkien lumbers up to its big moments, such as the preposterous climax involving the title character scrambling around the western front, calling out his schoolmate’s name. Fact or fiction isn’t the issue. Either way it plays like hokum.

The film preaches of the love of creative freedom, yet finds no original form of expression of its own.

Director Dome Karukoski guides the actors well with a perfectly British script containing dry, witty humor. However, the movie leaves one longing for a little more.
