More than thirty years after this movie was created, I actually enjoyed stumbling on this in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. I can see why Mel Gibson became such a star, I couldn't look away from the screen.

Tim is a cloying, if heartfelt, fairytale about a simple gardener who falls in love with an older, American businesswoman.

Tim comes close to reproducing the plot of Doubt, in negative-space fashion. That is, for this go-round, we spend all our time with the uncomprehending kid (if he is uncomprehending?) and his teacher-nurturer-desirer.
