Thoroughbreds Don't Cry (1937)

Cricket West is a hopeful actress with a plan and a pair of vocal chords that bring down the house. Along with her eccentric aunt, she plays host to the local jockeys, whose leader is the cocky but highly skilled Timmie Donovan. A young English gentleman comes to town convincing Donovan to ride his horse in a high stakes race.

The combo of Judy and Mickey was magical, and makes for an entertaining film despite its many flaws.

The first movie that Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney did together... She is a darling as always and Mickey so funny... Really cute movie that I'll definitely watch more that once. "I have new shoes" =)

Thoroughbreds Don't Cry (1937) -- [4.0] -- This was an early film for both Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney, and their first together. With Ronald Sinclair they form an insufferably sweet trio who ride horses and sing songs. I suppose it's possible this appealed to general audiences in the late `30s, but it doesn't date well.
