Wrongly branded misogynist by PC kneejerkers, this is a scathing assault on the exploitative nature of pornography and the emptiness of sex without love.

This futuristic tale of the tiawanese porn industry set amidst a severe drought is not for every one. Minamialistic in its approach to dialogue(reminicent of gus van sants work) but overflowing with unspoken riches of emotional intensity this tai musical simply refuses to behave.Wonderfully filthy and languidly ponderous as well as beautifully made.The musical numbers perfectly filling in the blanks purposly left by the director. Beware the jaw dropping ending,its as fucked up as it is aesthetically acomplished.

This was by far the best watermelon-sex-musical I've ever seen. But more seriously, Tsai has masterfully executed an important statement about pornography, sex, and love. I first saw this movie in a theater, which really pushed the absurdity of the pornography over the top.

This is one of the strange films I have ever seen. There are long and silent scenes and funny musicals with distant old Chinese songs that describe the feelings of the actors as the story goes. And the first erotic sex scene with watermelon is quite creative. The story picks up from an earlier film "What time is it there?". But I didn't see the earlier film and have no idea of the background about the relationship of the two main characters. The film can be condensed. Some scenes just drag too long. The thing that annoys me is that I cannot fully understand what the story wants to bring to the audience.
