The Violent Years (1956)

A newspaper publisher's daughter suffers from neglect by her parents. She and her friends turn to crime by dressing up like men, holding up gas stations, raping young men at gunpoint, and having makeout parties when her parents are away. Their "fence" gets them to trash the school on request of sinister un-American clients, and they run afoul of the law, apple pie, and God himself.

Teen rebellion became a massive issue in the 50's and "Rebel Without A Cause" created a stir both socially and commercially. So obviously, the indie studios wanted to cash in on the teen rebel craze. In came Ed Wood with a script of teen delinquent bad girls. It really doesn't make much sense, and there are serious inconsistencies, but that's what you should expect, right?

Not the worst that Ed Wood was involved in, but still pretty damn bad.

Brandon D 27 Nov 2008

Not great, bad dialogue, but not bad for an Ed Wood film

A catastrophic failure by Ed Wood. Communists beware, we'll get you back for those school flags!

This is, bar none, the most spectacularly, most hilarious BAD MOVIE in history-- I challenge you to find one worse! "Plot" revolves around out-of-control upper-middle class teenage girl gang in the 50s who "get kicks" by robbing gas stations, gang-raping men in the park, aiding Communist infiltrators for quick cash, having pajama party orgies, getting pregnant and behaving in all kinds of other debauchery and depravity... all the while their parents and city have *no idea*, and there's even a fabulous conclusion where a semi-comotose judge preaches for at least 20 minutes about how "This Is Happening In Your City, and Your Children May be Involved" as a cautionary tale... Damn, the 50s were wild!
