The Violent Men (1955)

A former Union Army officer plans to sell out to Anchor Ranch and move east with his fiancée, but the low price offered by Anchor's crippled owner and the outfit's bullying tactics make him reconsider. When one of his hands is murdered he decides to stay and fight, utilizing his war experience. Not all is well at Anchor with the owner's wife carrying on with his brother who also has a Mexican woman in town.

Very good Western. Glenn Ford is at his hero-level best, and Barbara Stanwyck is deliciously evil.

There are quite a few different themes running through this well made western, although none are a real suprise. The strength of the cast, Ford in his honourable hero role, Stanwyck as a poisonous wife to Robinson the cattle baron collectively give this one a lot of structure.

well umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a great movie 2 watch...its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie..i think that barbara stanwyck, basil ruysdael, brian keith, glenn ford, edward g robinson, dianne foster, harry shannon, jack kelly, james westerfield play good roles/parts throughout this movie...i think that the director of this action/adventure/western/drama movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throguhout this movie its an enjoyable 1950's movie 2 watch with a good cast throughout this movie

now this is a western! glenn ford does hsi thing just the way he's supposed to do and this is high quality entertainment!
