Guns for San Sebastian (1967)

Leon Alastray is an outlaw who has been given sanctuary by Father John, whom he then escorts to the village of San Sebastian. The village is deserted, with its cowardly residents hiding in the hills from Indians, who regularly attack the village and steal all their supplies. When Father John is murdered, the villagers mistakenly think the outlaw is the priest. Alastray at first tells them he is not a priest, but they don't believe it, and an apparent miracle seems to prove they are correct. Eventually, he assists them in regaining their confidence and defending themselves.

Anthony Quinn dominates in screen time and with his very likeable outlaw character in what is a familiar story of helping the the little people in the lawless desert.

Great movie with a good story to it and i didn't think I would really like it to well but really enjoyed it

Quite entertaining and also very earnest spaghetti western about outlaw Anthony Quinn finding shelter from a priest in the small town of San Sebastian. The town, however, is under siege from bandits led by Charles Bronson. When the priest is killer, the townsfolk mistaken Quinn as a fellow priest who then leads the towns people to rise up against their tormentors. Although the story is a bit of a rehash of "The Magnificent Seven" (which was itself a remake), Quinn gives a a very earnest and soulful performance, which you don't often get in spaghetti western, which typically focused on visuals, violence and quirk. The heart that Quinn brings to this film sets it apart from many of it's ilk.

En Mexico se llamo Los Ca#ones de San Sebastian. Un pistolero que huye de la ley (Anthony Quinn) es ayudado por un sacerdote (el Padre Joseph) al entrar en la iglesia donde imparte la misa, lo que provoca que sus superiores le impongan como penitencia la salida de esa parroquia para ser enviado a San Sebastian, un poblado lejano y abandonado. Sintiendose culpable, este hombre acompa#ara al sacerdote en su viaje pero al llegar las cosas cambiaran radicalmente. Fue rodada en Durango Mexico. Esta pelicula la vi en estreno en el Cine Tampico.
