In 1880s Australia, a lawman offers renegade Charlie Burns a difficult choice. In order to save his younger brother from the gallows, Charlie must hunt down and kill his older brother, who is wanted for rape and murder. Tremendous, tremendous photography. Brilliant script from no less than Nick Cave - who also provides the music. Gory fun. The best western since 'Unforgiven'. Major Peckinpah influence, love it.

A classic. Nick Cave teams up with long time collaborator John Hillcoat to produce one of the best westerns seen in many a year. Brutal and uncompromising, this movie will stick in your head long after you see it.

Better, more relevant and more real than all the trigger happy, gunslinging, sheriff hero excuses for a western film out there. If you like pistol duels at high noon try watching this to see what a real western with real characters should be like.

the open spaces in character and plot development resulted as a successful and unique technique of story telling. it was so dark i knew i'd be thinking about it for the rest of the night-- but i really enjoyed it. good job nick cave!
