Nice filmmaking with a good cast and hard-as-nails noir story. But it's a little hollow. Turns out that the filmmaker felt the same way and followed up with a weird experimental film (Schizopolis) and some witty crime capers (The Limey and Out of Sight). Good for him!

Very stylish and decently engaging. I do think that it's a little too clever for its own good, and the ending was a head-scratcher to me.

Cerita yang menarik mengenai kepercayaan dan bagaimana setiap dosa pasti tidak memberikan ketenangan berpanjangan.

The Underneath is too chaotic to work as a thriller. The suspense kicks in too late and blends uneasily with the rest of the film. But the movie has other sorts of appeal. At heart, it is not a lurid, noir story but a study of characters caught in an emotional disaster.

Solid Film Noir from Soderbergh, using some unique camera techniques.
