Tuesday, July 19, 2011 (1957) The Tin Star WESTERN Not to confuse this with the story which "High Noon" was based on which coincidently was called "The Tin Star"- this is a totally different movie starring Henry Fonda as a bounty hunter coming to town and coaxing rookie shooter Anthony Perkins to save his town from rowdy bandits! Don't remember too much about this film, except to say that that I liked it as an unusual Western since Anthony Perkins can't seem to shake off this "Psycho" persona, this film does have a satisfying conclusion! 3 out of 4

Not the best Western by any means, yet Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins make an interesting duo.

Nice cinematography, Fonda is as always good, Perkins not quite the same league. A bit too cozy and folksy, though. Could help with a few sharp edges. Not bad, but I don't think you can call it a classic.

A classic contemplation of law and honor in the Old West. Fonda and Perkins have great chemistry as the grizzled old bounty hunter and the naive, idealistic sheriff. Perhaps it's a result of the era, but the drama does at times feel a bit toothless. The film is a bit too good-natured to fully explore the struggle of being honorable in a land that rewards evil.

Great flix. Fonda as a Bounty Hunter and Perkins as a tenderfoot sheriff, and Fonda teaches Perkins how to be a smart,tough, and expirenced sheriff/gunfighter. I am really surprised this hasn't been remade.
