Absolute magic, that is in my opinion the best way to describe The Secret of Kells. The art is very simple but is used to great effect and the story is full of wonder and humor with just a dash of scary (something to many kids films are ironically scared to include). Really captures the joy of being alive the way the Miyazaki does so masterfully. Oh yeah and it has the best animal sidekick (that thankfully doesn't talk) in an animated film in a long time in a cool white cat named Pangur Ban.

This is up for an Oscar against "UP". It is unlikely to win, but that doesn't reduce its merit. This is an interesting look into the Book of Kells, and an excellent introduction into Celtic art, which has not survived well through the centuries. This movie is literally as beautiful as the art it portrays.

Wonderful, magical and moving story about the struggle to create an illuminating book during the dark age of Ireland. Aisling, the girlish forest goddess is lovely. Film appeals just as much to adults as to children, perhaps even more so. Fantastic film that shouldn't be missed, and inspired by the real like legendary book of Kells.

Proof that there's still artistry in storytelling and 2D animation. I found myself uttering "wow" several times over the course of the film. Breathtaking visuals and story filled with hope. The light and wonder far outweighs the dark, but some of the imagery, might frighten young children.
