The Secret Garden is a mid-tier adaptation, though one with heart and soul.

IT WASTED MY TIME TO WATCH THE BORING SECRET GARDEN. I REGRET IT. What was the point of this film? Boring with an irritating girl acting the lead role. Flat dialogue and stiff acting. I didn't understand the plot of the movies and the storylines of the movie. It makes me feel dizzy to watch. The only beauty is the scenery. Yeah only that. A slow start, an even slower stretch to the end makes this awesome novel re-make film, fall flat on its face. I guess the secret here is to keep this trash a big secret to prevent anyone else from having to endure this nonsense. A very big non-secrecy 2 out of 10 stars. The 2 stars are for the dog, and the garden.

Pero que película tan pero tan aburrida!! Creó que perdí 1 hora de mi vida.

Things get quite Gothic in the film’s final stretch, with genre add-ons that “Garden” purists may also find distasteful. The extra melodrama can feel unnecessary. However, it leads to moments of life-restoring beauty (core theme here again) and love.

It’s sluggish at times and too withdrawn for such a vibrant tale. But it stays nevertheless in tune with the spirit of Burnett’s book, and by the time it reaches its late crescendo, this “Secret Garden” blooms nevertheless.
