If you enjoy your meat rare, booze gulped out of a dirty boot, and tingle at the sound of jangling spurs, "The Salvation" is the movie for you.

A very enjoyable picture that is a great testament to how far danish cinema has come.... this is quite uncharacteristic for a typical danish movie, but Levring really pulls it off and I think any lover of westerns will find this a solid addition to the batch of quality westerns in the past 10 years (The Proposition, 3:10 to Yuma, True grit, Django Unchained etc.) it doesn't quite reach those levels, but it's close and it's enjoyable...

in the grand tradition of Sergio Leone and his Spaghetti Westerns set in the American Old West but shot in Europe...enriched by a fine score by Kasper Winding that keeps the tension at a fever pitch with fine performances by Mads Mikkelson and Eva Green.

I hate westerns, I hate the old west but this western in the old west was a fantastic film. A great cast with plenty of action. This is winner.

It's another bloody and violent western movie with a beautiful twist found in two Danish brothers, played by Mikael Persbrandt and Mads Mikkelson, and the very quiet Eva Green. It doesn't have much of a plot but its resolution is quite satisfying.
