Tarkovsky died before this film was finished and it is as if his soul was imprinted on the celluloid. It's a testament to his amazing artistic spirit that will transcend generations and continue to impact those who search for deeper meaning in film.

Famous for being the reference of REM's "Losing my Religion" video. Like most Tarkovsky, the first 30 minutes are slow and abstract, but once it gets going you won't be able to forget the imagery for days afterwards. Best post-apocalyptic movie ever. AMAZING cinemetography by Sven Nykvist.

It seems Tarkovsky and Bergman shared the same cast and crew. First I noticed Sven, then the guy from Fanny and Alexander, then a couple of Bergmans in the credits and before you know it, I was absorbed like Andrei usually does to me. I would like to say this is not his most visual film, if anything it is his weakest besides Ivan's Childhood, but the story is more potent than that of his higher visual films such as "The Mirror" and "Nostalghia" Like always though, it is a hard movie to understand but never the less, whether I got it or not, it is profound.

This was the final film of tarkovsky and it really does show in its execution.
