This is Wes Anderson's magnus opus. It has the stunning ability to be heart-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time, providing the viewer with the odd sensation of feeling inspired and the feeling of hopelessness and hopefulness at once. Wes is a wizard in his whimsical and quirky aesthetic style and it is indeed so delicious to watch as it is to listen to the enchanting score. With possibly the greatest ensemble cast since The Godfather, this film is one of most intriguing family comedies of all time and has changed the definition of what it means to be quirky and peculiar.

Wes Anderson is a genius. Bill Murray, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Gwenyth Paltrow (Undoubtedly her best role as Margot), and Luke Wilson... I mean, how can you go wrong. My favourite movie. By far.

The plot is clunky, but there are enough great moments to make up for it (i.e. Margot getting off the bus in slow motion to "These Days", or the suicide scene). Actually the suicide scene alone makes this a 5 star winner.

Brilliant. A movie about a extremely self centered man trying to do the right thing for the first time in his life but his nature keeps getting in his way. Never seen a movie where everyone nailed their parts so perfectly. Right down to the most subtle details. It was fantastic. Not for everyone though.
