Half musical and half insane superhero parody this movie is definitely better on drugs. Starring Christopher Lee as the infamous "El Guapo", uh I mean, "Mr. Midnight." The movie starts off in the innocent 1950's and is followed by 30 years of drunkenness and falling, on mountain tops. NO JOKE. I pretty much hated this movie. Mainly I hated it because I think the writer has some serious and unaddressed mental and sexual deviations. Other than that though it was ok. A bit on the loopy side, even for me though. Good songs. Definitely good songs, including the large as life "BS" song. However, I'm sure that Mr. Lee's family was calling him after the screening to ask if he was feeling well.

Before "Hancock", Alan Arkin was the original drunken, down and out superhero. Arkin is hilarious as the coming-out-of-retirement superhero and Christopher Lee is great as Arkin's super villain nemesis, but many of the films gags are not all that funny and the Rocky Horror-esque musical numbers seemed tedious and out of place.

Before The Incredibles, there was Return of Captain Invincible! While falling on its feet every once in awhile, there's no denying it has its own irressitable charm. Lots of funny moments, and definately memorable, its worth seeking out if you like strange movies (or are a big fan of Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, it makes a great double feature with this). Christopher Lee and Alan Arkin are both great. Definately reccomended

This film is one of those bizarre ideas that you're surprised in retrospect ever got off the drawing board. It's not especially funny, but it's hard to hate a film where a bad guy tries to kill Invincible with a machine gun hidden in a plastic fish.

Not bad. The Incredibles before the Incredibles, but not nearly as funny, touching, or musically competent.
