The superior sequel (A rare thing, indeed!) to "The Rescuers", with Eva Gabor & Bob Newhart reprising their roles as our titular sleuths. This time the action takes place "Down Under", where Bernard and Miss Bianca must contend with vicious poacher MacLeish, who is hot on the trail of a rare and enormous Golden Eagle. Of course the Disney animators take advantage of the endless oppurtunity to plumb the visual wealth of the Australian outback, & as usual, the film is vivid and brightly colorful. George C. Scott is faboo as the blustery scoundrel MacLeish, & the character's scenes with his egg-eating lizard-lackey, Joanna the Goanna are priceless! John Candy also scores as a plump Albatross who aids our heroes. A marvelous Disney effort!

"Home, home on the range/Where the critters are tied up in chains/I cut through their sides/and I rip off their hides/and the next day I do it again. Everybody!" Any Disney animated movie that features a villian singing the above tune deserves 5 stars. McLeach is one of the best baddies, a legit psychopathic poacher who, in one insanely entertaining scene, starts babbling for 5 minutes, including a passage about sticking a 7-year old kid in a giant anthill to "loosen his tongue." He throws knives at the child, kills endangered species for fun, and harasses his enormous pet lizard Joanna. Awesome movie.

This movie is kinda the under dog of the Disney movies. Nobody says this as their favorite disney movie. However, I adore this movie. It's my favorite disney film.
