I think this film is easily as good as the first. It suffers from being the sequel to an amazing film, but in its own right it's still a great movie. The thing it has in its favour is that it's still original: It keeps all the good things from the first film but tells a different story, although ultimately still one of survival.

Unlike in Jurassic Park, this movie is part of the "lost world" genre and is captivating as it has the feel of middle of nowhere whereas in Jurassic Park, you had a feeling of civilization. As in Jurassic Park, this movie did not portray the dinosaurs as monsters but as animals with parental instincts and behavior more than "I Want To Eat Humans."
