The Reader (2008)

The story of Michael Berg, a German lawyer who, as a teenager in the late 1950s, had an affair with an older woman, Hanna, who then disappeared only to resurface years later as one of the defendants in a war crimes trial stemming from her actions as a concentration camp guard late in the war. He alone realizes that Hanna is illiterate and may be concealing that fact at the expense of her freedom.

It was, definetly, the film of the year 2008 for me. It's a film that is impossible to forget. This film show an extraordinary understanding of the human condition. An exquisite sensibility, visualized. The performances are so deeply moving, beautifully photographed... an A+++++

I wish I hadn't waited so long to watch this critically panned movie. Sex, nudity, immorality, and really fine acting.

The Reader is a sensual movie. Holocaust is one of my favorite subjects although this movie doesn't directly talk about it. I liked the perspective, teenage boy's love affair, the trial etc. The movie remained with me when I was done watching... it made me think... I believe these are the attributes of a good movie.
