Forget Trainspotting as the seminal 'drug' movie - this did it better 20 odd years before it

It is not filled with quick cutting or gimmicky editing, but Jerry Schatzberg's direction is so confident that we cover the ground effortlessly. We meet the characters, we get to know the world.

Finally, my losing streak ends with a reliable, gritty, amazing film from Pacino and Schatzberg. The real surprise was Kitty Winn. Her performance was great. And the ending to this movie is flawless.

You cant expect anything but the best from Al Pacino.... Typical style with added brilliance of method acting, a complete package of a great actor and someone i respect... i believe that the indian film makers can do this in their own way, but the actors to be considered are few.... this movie was a perfect package in every sense of the word and i wold recommend to anyone who really likes and appreciates the art of good film making.....
