Side Effects (2005)

America! Built on a better pill. Karly Hert has spent the last ten years selling drugs. Legally, that is. Karly is a pharmaceutical sales representative. She sells pills to doctors. She makes lots of money. She has a company car. She has a nice fat expense account. But there's a growing pit in Karly's stomach. Something isn't right behind the scenes at big pharma. Based on the director's decade working directly for the industry.

Made for $190K but pretty interesting, based on real life experience as a pharma rep, and ethical dilema's that creates. Worth seeing on video

pretty good for a low bugget movie but I don't recommend going out at buying it for $25 like I did lol..... The more I've watched this movie the more I have learned to love it. It's funny as hell and really opens your eyes to the drug world and that we have to be aware of what we are putting into our bodies.

the movie puts in perspective the pharmaceutical business which is cool, and Katherine Heigl is so hot it should be illegal

I'm hoping that Heigl did this before Grey's Anatomy, or at least before it was really popular. The editing was really bad for this movie, lots of audio problems and some really bad continuity. The pacing is really slow for the begining of the movie and it takes more than half way through for it to improve much, but still has problems. It seems to be more of a propoganda, wanna be documentary seeing as it even had information on the web site and a documentary about the subject, not to mention the fact that in part of the movie they are actually going around pretending they are a documentary and asking how doctors feel about the subject. I really actually think that Bug Busters is better than this movie if you wanted to watch some Heigl movie.

I don't think this would be for everyone. It is kind of slow, and anyone expecting a usual Katherine Heigl chick flick type movie will be sorely disappointed. However, having been unfortunate enough to have spent some time working in a pharmacy, this really rang true to me about drug companies and how they manipulate people. It's obviously very low budget, but the acting is good, and it is thought provoking.
