I don't know where to begin with this film... the take on love was, while realistic, overly pessimistic. It had too strong of a small-town flavor for my taste, though it was done well.

A subtle, if stereotypical, portrayal of life in Arkansas, with a standout performance by Ashley Judd, who just seems to be getting better as an actress. The film is both calming and affective, and though not-original and predictable, Adams direction/script never loses focus and it's obvious the connection with her actors was strong, making what would normally be a poor/mediocre effort a reasonably enjoyable one. Also, the score by Alan Brewer, whom I happen to know, is one of the film highlights, and no, I'm not just saying that because I know him.

An explosive performance by Ashley Judd. This is a great drama about learning how to change. I love that the movie doesn't become all romantic and sappy when Lucy meets what seems to be the perfect guy, it actually shows how hard it is for lucy to accept a guy like him. I really think that this is one of the best performances from Ashley Judd. The movie is slow but it plays out perfectly without adding too much senseless crap into it. It is a heartfelt drama that shows how difficult it is to find yourself sometimes. If you like dramas about real life situations then i recommend you watch this one, but if you don't then don't bother watching it.
