Very small, yet effective black comedy, about a couple new in town that goes over to another couple's house for dinner and it just keeps getting weirder and weirder, I'll admit I never knew where it was gonna go next, I'll admit where it does end up going isn't THAT crazy or bizarre but it makes sense, it's also super short and over before you know it, but the leads are all likable, Schwartzman and Scott do the best, they're just fun and enjoyable to watch, another success from the director who did Creep last year, also very small and low budget but effective

Brice goes a bit too broad at times, but he keeps things just funny and edgy and open enough for "The Overnight" to work.

Let me set the scene for you. You're one quarter of a romantic comedy, with you and your partner joining up with another couple for a night on the town. The usual hijinks ensue and you end up at a movie theatre watching a comedy, having a few laughs, and then discover Tyler Durden is your projectionist. You were not expecting that. NO-ONE expects that. Nor a lot of the other stuff that follows after seeing that. Still, once you get over the shock of that, you realize that you had a really good time with that couple, and while perhaps you wouldn't want quite that experience again, especially since you both have kids, you can still hang out and be normal friends just like everyone else. So, all in all, a good time was had by all, even if it wasn't quite what you were expecting.

It's no Your Sister's Sister; Brice isn't quite as deft at pacing or revealing details as Lynn Shelton - at least not yet. The Overnight is full of promise.
