Poor Sam, forced to make a movie by a scirpt and a bok he dont like. a week plot with a lot of holes. only backed up with Burt Lancaster in a supporting role. R.I.P. Sam.

J adore la periode contemporaine de peckinpah... La nouvelle affiche du dvd est mieux

It isn't saying anything against Peckinpah (who had his film edited against his wishes) to say that this is a big mess. And while there are some flawed moments that are interesting on their own, they don't seem to amount to much and surely don't fulfil the promise of the interesting political espionage premise.

An incredible cast with an interesting script involving espionage and deception.

Between a 5/10 and 6/10, the structure is a mess (the film was recut against Peckinpah's wishes), which ultimately makes it difficult to tell whether its oddly compelling qualities are the result of a coherent artistic strategy or the cynical carelessness of a director sidelined.
