Saw this many years ago as a teen/young adult. I enjoyed it then and enjoyed seeing the end of it again this afternoon..

The German POW character played by Hardy Kruger is not terribly different from Steve McQueen's star-making role in The Great Escape - the dedicated escape artist who singlemindedly focuses on getting out of enemy clutches.

Perfectly decent war/escape movie. It lacks some of the inventiveness and plain fun that make The Great Escape, The Bridge On The River Kwai, Papillon or similar classics so special. However Hardy Kruger'Â?Â?s charisma and an excellent ending lift the movie above average.

Good WWII movie about the only German prisoner of war to escape from Britain and back to Germany. The bit where he is trying to steal a Hurricane fighter is nail-biting stuff.
