"The November Man" is a sturdy-enough addition to the action spy (as opposed to the thoughtful spy) canon. It shoots straight, runs fast and is thoroughly, almost convincingly, paranoid.

A great return to for for pierce brosnan. He's back being bond not is name but in action in this action packed thriller. For those of us who grew up with pierce as our James Bond this film is a great bit of nostalgia that brings back the action star we love but with a new slightly menacing edge. A great little movie with a solid cast and a great story.

Brosnan is a nitty, gritty, Bondish (due to his handsomeness) secret agent with absolutely no penchant for tongue-in-cheek joking, drinking non-stirred booze, or loyalty to the Queen.

This film delivers on the premise. It is a spy versus spy action movie with one major star and a lot of good supporting actors. The action sequences are quick and well paced. None of those boring tumble-down-the-stairs routines. (Here the hero simply dispatches the bad guy over the railing.) Kudos to the DP. Shots aren't "look at me" dazzling. They're just perfect, each flowing seamlessly into the next. See it in a theatre before it cycles out. Then grab the Blu-ray and turn the sound up. The shovel sequence near the end ( a scant 40-50 frames ) is particularly satisfying.

I have no idea why this is currently so poorly reviewed. I enjoyed every minute of it. Easily as as good or better than the last few James Bond and other recent spy flicks...really. Seems like somebody forgot to pay off somebody for this to get panned as it is...it does not deserve it.
