The film's lyrical construction and intense central performance from Geislerová, well matched by newcomer Lipowská, do justice to the enduring power of the story,.

Andrew Wyatt 07 Dec 2018

A domestic sort-of-ghost story, so determinedly slow-burning that it almost forgets that it's supposed to be frightening.

Joule Zelman 21 Aug 2017

If the movie's symbolism is heavy, it also makes for some gorgeous shots of sinister women creeping through the shining wheat.

Daniel P 07 Oct 2016

Beautiful to look and a great child actress performance aside, the Noonday Witch seems to strive for mythic but never quite gets there, and it's rarely as scary as it needs to be.

Leah Pickett 19 Jul 2017

The climax suffers from unimpressive visual effects, but not enough to sink the measured, atmospheric buildup of the first two thirds or the exquisite performance from Geislerova.
