The Negotiation unravels from the inside out, lurching from improbable to implausible to just plain ridiculous, and writer-director’s Lee Jong-Suk’s by-the-book filmmaking does little to raise the stakes.

Hyun is so good here that he threatens to steal the limelight from Son, although she is equally terrific in her role.

Brilliant, masterful direction brings us a taut, first-rate drama that builds to a moving conclusion. Charismatic, gripping performances by the leads, excellent work by all. Astonishing, tour-de-force work by Hyun Bin that shatters anything he's done before. I bought it because there's so much to appreciate, I know I'm going to watch it many times.
