I do think they ran out of money when the composer was hired. However...with that comment aside, it was decent but not great. It did have potential but never fully followed through. Was a fun random watch though and was better than I thought. Woody Harrelson wasn't quiet the best choice for the physician part either.

this movie was pretty lackluster, probably why i had never heard of it until now. woody harrelson was ok in this, but the film was just kind of boring, jon seda was kind of cliched in this. the biggest turn off of this movie is the really weak ending.

Feels like it may have been shelved for a while. L.A. doctor Michael Reynolds (Woody Harrelson) is taken hostage by terminally ill criminal Brandon Monroe (Jon Seda), so that Monroe can reach a spiritual healing ground. Both Charles Leavitt's script and Cimino's visuals have false notes (Maurice Jarre's score is particularly ill-fitting), but the film does improve once the story leaves California and hits the wide open spaces. Neither Harrelson nor Seda may have been ideal casting for their roles, but their relationship does bring emotion to the buddy-film template.
