It's indicative of how crazy matters get when ex-journalist Harrelson gets hired to run the police press office as his caper disintegrates.

Starts like a wacky "heist gone wrong" farce, but with needless amounts of graphic sexual groping and suddenly trying to be gritty. It ends up just be confusing. It's hard to know if you should be laughing, on edge or just masturbating. If you did any of the above, you'd be disappointed.

Surprises are reserved for the final half-hour, at which point the slow-paced Palmetto has long since fossilized as a routine exercise in ceiling-fan, sweaty-forehead noir-by-numbers.

Sultry neo-noir that's lacking in substance. Shue is unbelieveably hot, Harrellson is good in the lead, and it looks good...but it never really amounts to much. Too long, and too drawn out. Pacing is not their friend.
