Palmetto (1998)

After being released from prison on a bum charge, Harry Barber is out for payback to regain his lost two years. He's hired by Mrs. Malroux to fake the kidnapping of her stepdaughter (the daughter of a dying millionaire). He discovers that he is being set up on multiple levels and will soon face a longer sentence if he doesn't prove the truth.

Steamy as hell, "Palmetto" is too far over the top to be taken very seriously. Unlike the film noir gems it seeks to emulate, it doesn't have a believable moment in it.

This is actually a pretty decent noir - pity they f'ed it up with the ending. One thing I will say: Elisabeth Shue is HOT HOT HOT in this movie.

As we set off on this journey it looked as though Woody's character was going to be smarter than he turned out to be. A few things in this flic that annoyed me because I know a little about this business. Cops should've done a way better job, but then I guess we wouldn't have had a story. Thank god for dumb film cops!

Another film noir has Woody Harrelson involved with Elisabeth Shue and Gina Gershon, in faking a kidnapping which turns out real, and he ends up in the deep doo doo.
