Thomas Jerome Newton is an alien who has come to Earth in search of water to save his home planet. Aided by lawyer Oliver Farnsworth, Thomas uses his knowledge of advanced technology to create profitable inventions. While developing a method to transport water, Thomas meets Mary-Lou, a quiet hotel clerk, and begins to fall in love with her. Just as he is ready to leave Earth, Thomas is intercepted by the U.S. government, and his entire plan is threatened.

This movie always makes me happy, its uncomfortable, but in a very good way, and of course it has David Bowie which makes it even more amazing.

Probably one of the most brilliant sci-fi films, and one of the most complex and bizzare. worth watching for Bowie's performance alone

Thought provoking, intreguing and wildly captivating. It says a lot about the state of humanity, more than some are probably willing to see. Thats what I like about this weird little film. It's a feast for the senses, though originally they were going to use dark side as the soundtrack - wish i could have seen that version too!
