Thomas Jerome Newton is an alien who has come to Earth in search of water to save his home planet. Aided by lawyer Oliver Farnsworth, Thomas uses his knowledge of advanced technology to create profitable inventions. While developing a method to transport water, Thomas meets Mary-Lou, a quiet hotel clerk, and begins to fall in love with her. Just as he is ready to leave Earth, Thomas is intercepted by the U.S. government, and his entire plan is threatened.

A masterpiece. An epic mess of crash zooms and intrusive sound. Bowie is perfect.

Bowie fits his role perfectly and the camera work is great. This movie is often considered flawed by critics, but I consider it a classic in the genre.

Waaaay ahead of it's time visually and in terms of story telling. It also perfectly captures David Bowie at his most vibrant and beautiful. It's also trippy as hell! I heard that Pink Floyd was originally going to do the soundtrack, it's a shame they didn't.
