Tom Rath is a suburban father and husband haunted by his memories of World War II, including a wartime romance with Italian village girl Maria, which resulted in an illegitimate son he's never seen. Pressed by his unhappy wife to get a higher-paying job, Rath goes to work as a public relations man for television network president Ralph Hopkins. Drawn into poisonous office politics, Tom finds he must choose his career or his family.

As the broadcasting tycoon, Fredric March is excellent, and the scenes between him and Peck lift the picture high above the ordinary.

85/100. Gregory peck excels as a man with insecurities that is being pushed by his ambitious wife, powerfully played by Jennifer Jones. His character is complex, and Peck handles the role beautifully. The supporting cast is exceptional, with Fredric March coming off best. Ann Harding and Arthur O'Connell also stand out. Well produced,especially the costume design. An excellent film.

A work of the 1950's that has retained all the depth and truth that it had when it was published. The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit portrays in a raw, very real way, an island of a man who struggles to rediscover the worth of his life after the tragedies of war have shaken his very being. Though the society he rediscovers after his military service is that of baby-booming 1950s corporate America, the flawed but universal concept of the American dream is captured by this genuinely touching gem. Gregory Peck gives a very sympathetic performance as a protagonist who learns the importance of family and self worth, over the love of status or financial gain.

I truly believe that in this day and age more people need to revisit this movie as there are valuable lessons to be learned from it. One of my favorite movies to grace my DVD player.
