The only artful slasher-esque drama I've ever seen. Christian Bale's disturbing performance is one of the best I've ever seen. This psychological thriller/drama hybrid had me convinced the whole way. It uses violence and sex in ways that it's almost as if they are characters in the film, they aren't overly frequent nor are they overdone they are part of Bateman's psyche. They are what makes him who he is. It's well paced, extremely well written and acted, and directed flawlessly. This film was a rigorous but absolutely brilliant picture!

Nonsensical murder has never been so exciting. "American Psycho" is hilarious. It's excellent as a satire, and Christian Bale is fantastic as Patrick Bateman, who is one of the most appallingly entertaining protagonists of all time. The supporting cast is wonderful as well. Nearly every line is quotable, and nearly every scene is iconic. It's a classic for good reasons, and one of my favorite movies. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to return some videotapes.

American Psycho is an original, well-directed film with one of the most twisted and insane characters ever brought to the big screen. Christain Bale as Patrick Bateman makes the movie what it is. It's still his best performance. The film is not for everyone I'll tell you that. It's a great dark comedy satire of narcissistic business people with an ending that's mind-bending. Great movie! My favorite movie directed by a woman. Now if you accuse me, I have to return some video tapes.

The single biggest cost on the film was purchasing the rights to the various songs used throughout.

For me, this is Christian Bale's best performance. I know a lot of people will immediately say Batman, but Christian Bale IS Patrick Bateman. He puts his all into the role and delivers the character I imagined reading the book. As for the film itself, it's a satirical black comedy masquerading as a slasher thriller. It sticks faithfully to the book and special mention has to go for how well handled the violent scenes were. The book is notorious for its grisly scenes of murder and rape, but the movie is very subdued and is all the better for it. The writing is sharp and witty and the supporting cast all put in some good performances. Plus the soundtrack is just pure quality, an underrated classic.
