Renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou has sworn vengeance upon the rare shark that devoured a member of his crew. In addition to his regular team, he is joined on his boat by Ned, a man who believes Zissou to be his father, and Jane, a journalist pregnant by a married man. They travel the sea, all too often running into pirates and, perhaps more traumatically, various figures from Zissou's past, including his estranged wife, Eleanor.

Yes Owen Wilson is in this movie,and if you read my reviews alot you know i'm not a fan of his. BUT the fact that Owen is surrounded by Bill Murray,Willem Dafoe and later Jeff Goldblum makes it bearable. This is a great movie because the humor is more dark and you will have to have an open mind when watching this movie.

This is Anderson's best work. It's inspired and fresh and comes from a time when he's self aware but not yet self absorbed. If you liked Moonrise Kingdom then you probably love Fantastic Mr. Fox, but if you like TRT TLA is a mature culmination of this creative stage in his career. Just like that film critic said in beginning, I just don't think most people got it. Seriously. P.S. You critics should be ashamed of yourselves. You've forced Anderson to be apologetically funny. Moonrise Kingdom was cheap laughs ::vom vom vom vom::. Why do you expect him to be a comedian?

Self-discovery, adventure, and awkward moments all make this movie one of my favorites of all time. Wes Anderson goes to great and unique lengths to put his films in a universe of his own. For many, this is considered one of Anderson's lessers. For me, it's one of Anderson's best pieces of work, very underrated, furthering why I love everything he does. Touching, Smart, and relatable. I love it.
