Renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou has sworn vengeance upon the rare shark that devoured a member of his crew. In addition to his regular team, he is joined on his boat by Ned, a man who believes Zissou to be his father, and Jane, a journalist pregnant by a married man. They travel the sea, all too often running into pirates and, perhaps more traumatically, various figures from Zissou's past, including his estranged wife, Eleanor.

I'm in awe of the fact that this movie is rated rotten on RT. It's probably my favorite movie of all time!

"Life Aquatic" is the most underrated movie directed by the amazingly creative Wes Anderson. The flick shows such uniqueness and whimsy unlike any other Anderson work. Of course, the quirkiness is still strong but the movie's visuals are stunning, especially the animation.

Initially misunderstood, I hope this film doesn't get buried away and lost, because it's truly remarkable and unique. Bill Murray, especially in the latter half of his career, has reminded us time and again that there's a very good reason for his longevity. The man is a natural comedic talent who doesn't "play" funny; instead, he plays real, and happens to be funny. He leads a stellar cast on Wes Anderson's whimsically heartwarming tale of love, companionship, and revenge. Really, how many films can fit that bill? In a sea of generic mediocrity, "The Life Aquatic" stands out as a magnificent and rare specimen of devouring beauty.
