Li-Ann, a dreamer, is a strong believer of the soul mate theory and rejects all men, especially her best friend KS, until she falls in love with Jeremy, at first sight. They tour Chinatown, Singapore, together on February 29, 1980. Unfortunately, she is heartbroken when he tells her he is engaged. He decides to make up to her by meeting her at the same time, same place, every leap year. I didn't expect much but it was a good movie nonetheless. I love Li-Ann's strong and stern character.

moral of the story? never see a fortune teller when you're young & naive. too much fairytale voids you of reality, and believing in one makes you an old hag before you'd get yourself off the shelf.

Finally caught it on DVD! Looooove it! Didn't realise Singapore can be filmed as such a romantic place.. The witty dialogue.. The eye-candy.. Great acting by Li-Lin.. This local movie is much much better than those Jack Neo and ge tai movies.. :)

I've always been very skeptical about English local productions, but this one really dazzled me. It brought back many memories...was it a pure coincidence that in the movie, the promise was made at Windows Cafe in February...the same month, the same place where it all ended in real life for me. One of the quotes flashed in the movie was by Robert Front, "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." and mine has to as well.
