I don't approve adultery, but in the end streep chooses her husband and family over the man of her dreams. I wish that Francesca and Robert could have been together in the end.

I LOVED IT! It was sad but lovely and I wish she had done the wrong thing, but that would have been so predictable! I love seeing Clint Eastwood in this kind of movie after having been forced to watch Hang Em High many times in a row several years ago!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone told me that this is one of the best love films ever made. I didn't believe it until I watched it last night. Very beautiful but heart-breaking.

What a film! Superbly acted and very moving, or is it touching, can you be moved without being touched, anyway, it doesn't matter. There were some genuinely emotional scenes is this film, especially the scene in the rain near the end and the following truck scene. A beautiful film about love and sacrifice.

this is quite simply a stunning movie wich will move the hardest of hearts. the script, the casting, the pace, the acting and the general warmth of the movie make it a modern classic. clint eastwood burys his tough guy image with a performance of subtlety that stirs the heart. meryl streep conjures up yet another phenomenal performance as francesca johnson the lonely iowa housewife. without any explosions, gunfights, sex or car chases hollywood reminds us that occasionally it can tell us a simple story and leave us breathless. the only mystery here is why this classic didnt sweep the board at the oscars, best film, best director, best actor and best actress should have been awarded and its anyones guess why that never happened. for anyone needing to inject a little romance back into there lives then look no further, just get the tissues ready.
