Starring Spock's mom from an alternate universe with an appearance by Dr. Phlox from Enterprise, "The Last Word" instantly moves into my Top 10 personal favorite movies of all time. It doesn't even satisfy any of my personal criteria for favorite movies although a new criterion might be plush animals. This movie has the most realistic romance ever depicted on film, at least in my world.

Pretty good...the story could have had a stronger impact but still was interesting and acting was very good. Ray Ramono was surprising. He stole some scenes from wes bently. He character was sad but funny. He should get more drama parts.

For the first half of the film, I was not sure that I liked it so much. However, Ray Romano's performance kept me enthralled and entertained whenever he was present, as he is undoubtedly the funniest and probably best part of this movie. Wes Bentley and Winona Ryder had decent performances, but in my opinion not enough to carry the full weight of the film. The themes explored by the characters I think became the most interesting and significant during the last third of the film; I do think that director Geoff Haley did a successful job of bringing a lighter, comedic tone to the film which dealt with such serious issues such as assisted suicide. The ending was pretty satisfying for what was dished out during the final conflicts the characters faced, while still remaining believable and wrapped the film up in a bit of a lighter package, considering the themes that were explored.
