This could have been good. How many people knew the Demeter was the ship that brought Dracula to England in the story? If they did more of an Alien type movie and have the twist at the end show it was Dracula doing all this then it would have improved this 100% But no, cant have a slow burn movie anymore. The characters in the story are only as smart as the writer or have plot armor. Its just bad.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter has so many going for it: great production values and creature effect. A reasonably talented casts and many more. It is also based on a very interesting concept: this film is an Alien clone but set during 'the past'. However, like another film this year, 65, the director can't milk the tension from this premise and the result is a film that could not live up to its full potential.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter is a threadbare high-concept story given the high-thread-count treatment — a lovely piece of luxury pulp. It’s also the creepiest and classiest bit of late-summer counterprogramming you’re likely to find, which may say more about our current landscape of cinematic pleasures than the movie itself.

I wish i listened to the reviews instead of wasting my 1 hour watching this crap, all the crew is just plainly dumb including the captain, the dialogue sounds like a child wrote it, the characters are horrible, and the story sounds promising but Hollywood somehow made it an absolute boredom, the movie as a whole was way dawn out for no reason, and yes like some reviews pointed out this movie if full of woke agenda like the only smart person in the crew is... yes you guessed it is the woman. the only thing i will give praise for is the cinematic aspect and CGI anything else is just ridiculously stupid and boring Please do not watch the movie, I stopped halfway through this movie and I skipped all the way to the end. you better waste your precious time somewhere else.

This thriller (not really) is based on the Captain's log from the titular ship, which carried Dracula to London in Stoker's book. Since we know what's gonna happen, it's up to the filmmakers to add suspense. Writer/director André Øvredal scored well with his last sci-fi film Mortal (my review) and this one also has a grand cinematic feel. No matter how stately things progress, there is not one single moment when there's a scare. This film is big on dark atmosphere and malevolent portent, but it moves too slowly and never creates any tension.
